WHAT IS SHORTFUSE?
Drama isn't just about the art of acting - there is also direction, stage management, lighting, sound and crew. Not to mention costumes, make-up and hair, props and set design. During this year all of these components will be taught, with make-up sessions, theatre tours, education sessions about lights and sound… and hopefully the chance to watch a performance and critique it.
Children of all ages will learn character building, emotional acting, comedy acting and improvisation, giving them confidence for auditions. Through the years I have auditioned many children and 75% are totally unprepared, but here's the twist - children will not only act but become directors and audition others in their group.
All these components will not all happen in Term 1, but will be spread throughout the year. I therefore ask for commitment. This is the biggest component of theatre - COMMITMENT. Once a play has been cast it is very difficult to put the performance on if a child opts out. So, where possible, commit to each term and we will review likes and dislikes at the end of term.
This curriculum is programmed to reach all children - so come along and join in the fun. Let theatre open your eyes to a brand new experience.
A BIT ABOUT THE TRAINER

After moving to Australia in 1990, she performed in the professional and amateur circuits across the region. Cat is now a recognised director, musical director and vocal coach, working and performing in many local theatres.
Her passion for the arts started when she was a child and she believes the future of theatre lies in encouraging children to get involved.
