THE HISTORY
The Arts Centre was established in response to community demands. In 1988, with the assistance of the Federal Government’s Bicentennial Fund, and matching funds from State and Local Government, construction of the Centre was commenced. Local businesses also became major donors to the facility, which opened its door to the public in March 1991.

- In 1993 the Kwinana Community Arts Centre Inc. was established as an independent association, with the aim of operating the Centre within a commercial environment.

- In 2002 the Federation Amphitheatre was added to the venue to provide a 1000 seat outdoor arena, and to allow the venue to further expand its opportunities.

- In 2008 the venue received generous funding from the Town of Kwinana to provide new carpets and to paint the venue. The 2007-11 business plan called for a re-branding of the venue and the Koorliny Centre name was chosen as an appropriately symbolic theme of “coming together”.

One of Perth's best kept secrets, The Arts Centre is a beautifully maintained and well-equipped resource with a versatile range of functions. It has three theatres including a 1000 seat amphitheatre, a 256 seat proscenium arch theatre which doubles as a cinema, and a 92 seat intimate theatre, as well as a dance studio, a number of multi-purpose studios and a courtyard which make it ideal for business functions, product releases, conferences and training programs.

For the comfort of artists and presenters, there are good dressing rooms with ensuite, showers, and a coffee making room. Large casts and/or crew can be accommodated in the linked adjacent studio.

Gilmore's Cafe, situated in the lower foyer has a licensed bar - and by the way, they also make excellent cappuccinos!

All members of the staff are involved and committed to the centre and so will be able to help you with any queries you may have. The technical resources of the venue are first rate and if you choose, the centre can also build sets, help with your display, or assist in organising a function.
